Esther Gronenborn ist 1966 in Oldenburg geboren, studierte in Berlin und Stuttgart Literatur und Philosophie und begann mit 17 Jahren zu filmen. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied der Filmveranstaltungs- und Künstlergruppe Wand 5 e.V. Seit 1990 Studium des Dokumentarfilms an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film, München. Diverse Arbeiten auf Video und Super8. alaska.de ist ihre erste Kinoregie.

Born in Oldenburg/Germany in 1966. Started making her own films at the age of 17. Took a degree in literature and philosophy at the Universities of Berlin and Stuttgart. Founder member of the film event and artist group known as Wand 5 ("Wall 5"). Also studied documentary film at the TV and Film Academy in Munich. Various films on video and Super 8. alaska.de is her first work as director.
