Queen
of the Mist tells the story of Annie Edson Taylor – the impoverished
63-year-old teacher who, in 1901, was the first person to go over
Niagara Falls in a barrel. Taylor
conceived the stunt as a way to reverse her fortunes. Instead, as
an „older woman“, she was rejected and ridiculed, robbed
and abandoned by two managers, impersonated by a young actress and
eclipsed by the man who repeated her stunt ten years later. She
died in poverty at the age of 83.
