Inhalt

The Underground Orchestra A Venezuelan harp player, a violonist frpm Sarajevo, an Argentine Pianist, a singer from Mali and a Romanian citar player are the protagonists of Heddy Honigmans documentary. While 'The Underground Orchestra' seems at first sight to be about people who make their living by playing in the corridors at the Paris Metro, it increasingly focuses on their life above ground. This is partly because it is illegal to film in the Metro since the bomb attacks a few years ago. There is however also an underground world above ground: many of the musicans portrayed are illegal immigrants in France. They are political refugees or people in self-imposed exile. They live in tiny chambres de bonne under the eaves of Paris houses or in ramshackle hotels where they have to pay much too much money.
