Der Sekretär Langer hat seinen Chef, den Fabrikanten Brand in den Ruin getrieben und außerdem dessen Tochter Grete in seine Wohnung gelockt. Daraufhin verläßt sie ihr Verlobter und heiratet ihre Schwester Irene. Grete geht ins Kloster.
