SUD begibt sich auf die Spuren eines Lynchmords, ein weiterer „rassistischer Vorfall“, verübt in Jaspers, Texas. Der Mord ist allgegenwärtig und beherrscht eindringlich den ganzen Film. „Der [Film] ist nicht die Anatomie eine Mordes und auch nicht die Autopsie eines Schwarzen, der von drei jungen weißen Männern gelyncht wurde, sondern vor allem ein Hinweis darauf, wie dieser Vorfall zu einem geistigen Klima und in eine reale Landschaft passt.“(Chantal Akerman)
