Februar 1884 als \u00e4lteste Tochter des Opernbariton Franz Porten und seiner Frau Vincenzia Porten, geb. Wybiral, in D\u00fcsseldorf(?) geboren .(1) 1894 geht Franz Porten ans Stadttheater Dortmund, das er ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter pachtet. Sie erh\u00e4lt Gesang- und Schauspielunterricht vom Vater (Franz Porten) und tritt gemeinsam mit der Schwester Henny Porten (geb. am 7.1.1890) bei Schulauff\u00fchrungen und Vereinsveranstaltungen auf, unter anderem in dem Couplet &#8222;Meissner Porzellan&#8220;. Nach dem Verlust des Theaters verarmt, zieht die Familie nur ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter nach Berlin. 1906 erh\u00e4lt Franz Porten den Auftrag, f\u00fcr die Messter-Projektion-GmbH 6 Tonbilder zu inszenieren: In &#8222;Meissner Porzellan&#8220; haben die Geschwister Porten ihren ersten Filmauftritt.<br \/>\n1910 verfasst Rosa Porten ihr erstes Drehbuch zu &#8222;Das Liebesgl\u00fcck der Blinden&#8220;, in der ihre Schwester Henny Porten ihre erste Hauptrolle in einem Spielfilm hat. Rosa Porten schreibt mehrere Drehb\u00fccher f\u00fcr die ersten 20min\u00fctigen Filme der Messter-Projektion-Gmbh und tritt darin auch als Darstellerin auf. Rosa Porten z\u00e4hlt zu den ersten Drehbuchautorinnen des deutschen Films. Einige verfasst sie f\u00fcr ihre Schwester, u.a. &#8222;Das gro\u00dfe Schweigen&#8220; (R: Rudolf Biebrach, 1915).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unter dem Pseudonym Dr. R. Portegg schreiben sie und ihr Mann Franz Eckstein zahlreiche Drehb\u00fccher und f\u00fchren auch Regie. In &#8222;Die Erzkokette&#8220; (R: Dr. R. Portegg, 1917) spielt Rosa Porten neben Reinhold Sch\u00fcnzel und Gustav von Winterstein die Hauptrolle. Sowohl die Regiearbeit als auch ihre schauspielerische Leistung werden gelobt: &#8222;&#8230;ein sehr h\u00fcbscher Scherz, der unter des Verfassers, Dr. R. Porteggs flotter Regie ausgezeichnet gespielt wurde. Die Titelrolle gibt Rosa Porten. Sie sieht in jeder Weise glaubw\u00fcrdig aus, zeigt viel echte Schelmerei, und nicht ein einziges Mal l\u00e4sst sie sich, was bei derartigen Rollen so leicht nahe liegt, zu Uebertreibungen verleiten.&#8220; (2)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Mehr<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\"><br \/>\nAnfang der 20er Jahre arbeiten Rosa Porten und Franz Eckstein f\u00fcr die National-Film AG in Berlin. Unter der Regie Franz Ecksteins entstehen u.a. &#8222;Lotte Lore&#8220; (1921) und &#8222;Hedda Gabler&#8220; (1924, mit Asta Nielsen in der Hauptrolle). Die Kritik zu &#8222;Lotte Lore&#8220; f\u00e4llt weniger positiv aus, die Stoffe, die Rosa Porten bearbeitet, scheinen nicht mehr zeitgem\u00e4\u00df: &#8222;Im ganzen ein leicht bearbeiteter (Rosa Porten) Roman einer leichten alten Schriftstellerin, der Schauburg. [&#8230;] Die Handlung ist das Entz\u00fccken unserer Gro\u00dfm\u00fctter gewesen. [&#8230;] Das Niveau der Handlung wurde von dem der Darstellung kaum \u00fcberstiegen.&#8220; (3)<br \/>\nMitte der zwanziger Jahre scheiden Rosa Porten und Franz Eckstein aus der National-AG aus.(4)<br \/>\nVon 1931-1945 lebt sie in Bauerhufen\/Pommern &#8211; nach eigenen Angaben sehr gl\u00fccklich. Ihr Ehemann stirbt an einem schweren Herzleiden zwei Wochen vor Einmarsch der Russen in Pommern. &#8222;Ich lebte nur noch bis zum 28. Dezember (1945) unter Russen und Polen &#8211; es war die H\u00f6lle!&#8220; (5). Eine qualvolle Flucht aus Pommern f\u00fchrte sie nach mehreren Irrfahrten nach M\u00fcnchen.
