April 1948 in Paris geboren. Ihre Kindheit verbringt sie bis zu ihrem 14. Lebensjahr in Franz\u00f6sisch-Westafrika. Nach ihrem Abitur arbeitet sie als Trainee in einer Firma, die Lehrfilme produziert. Sie entschlie\u00dft sich, am Institut des Hautes-Etudes Cin\u00e9matographique in Paris Film zu studieren. Nach ihrem Abschlu\u00df 1972 arbeitet sie f\u00fcr das Theater und f\u00fcr den Film, u.a. als Regieassistentin bei Costas Gavras, Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch und Jacques Rivette.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1988 dreht sie ihren erster Langspielfilm &#8222;Chocolat&#8220;. France, eine jungen Franz\u00f6sin, die in Kamerun als Tochter eines Kolonialbeamten aufgewachsen ist, kehrt nach 20 Jahren an den Ort ihrer Kindheit zur\u00fcck. In langen R\u00fcckblenden wird der koloniale Alltag aus der Perspektive der achtj\u00e4hrigen France erz\u00e4hlt: die unertr\u00e4gliche Hitze, das Warten der Mutter auf die R\u00fcckkehr des Vaters, ihr unerf\u00fclltes Begehren nach dem schwarzen Hausangestellten Prot\u00e9e. Trotz des Themas ist &#8222;Chocolat&#8220; kein nostalgischer Film, da er sich nicht auf die Kolonialzeit beschr\u00e4nkt und Bilder des modernen, postkolonialen Afrikas zeigt, ein Aspekt, der durch die Musik Abdullah Ibrahims unterstrichen wird.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Mehr<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Claire Denis n\u00e4chster Film &#8222;Man No Run&#8220; (1988\/1989) ist eine Dokumentation \u00fcber die T\u00eates Brul\u00e9es&#8220;, eine Band aus Kamerun auf ihrer ersten Frankreich-Tournee.<br \/>\nZusammen mit dem Filmkritiker Serge Daney dreht sie 1991 f\u00fcr die franz\u00f6sische Fernsehserie &#8222;Cin\u00e9astes de notre temps&#8220; einen Dokumentarfilm \u00fcber den Regisseur Jacques Rivette.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ihr zweiter Spielfilm &#8222;S&#8217;en fout la mort&#8220; \/ &#8222;Schei\u00df auf den Tod&#8220; (1990) wirft einen Blick auf die brutale Welt des illegalen Hahnenkampfs. Mit einer gro\u00dfen N\u00fcchternheit schildert Claire Denis hier die Grausamkeit menschlicher Beziehungen .<br \/>\nIhr n\u00e4chster Film &#8222;J&#8217;ai pas sommeil&#8220; \/&#8220;Ich kann nicht schlafen&#8220; (1994) ist eine Art n\u00e4chtlicher Spaziergang durch die Gemeinschaft der Heimatlosen und Au\u00dfenseiter. Basierend auf eine wahren Geschichte, dem ber\u00fcchtigten &#8222;Omam\u00f6rder&#8220; von Paris, folgt die Kamera den verschieden Protagonisten des Films: Daiga, eine Emigrantin aus Litauen auf der Suche nach Arbeit, dem Musiker Theo, der sich mit Schwarzarbeit durchschl\u00e4gt und Theos Bruder Camille, der als transvestischer T\u00e4nzer in einem Nachtclub auftritt. Einer von ist der M\u00f6rder, doch das f\u00e4llt niemandem auf. Claire Denis verzichtet konsequent auf Psychologie; die Figuren bleiben geheimnisvoll und unnahbar. Ihre Gef\u00fchle erschlie\u00dfen sich nur auf subtile Weise, in den fl\u00fcchtigen Begegnungen, ihren Gesten und Blicken.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8222;US Go Home&#8220; (1994) ist Teil der Serie &#8222;Tous les gar\u00e7ons et les filles&#8220; (Alle Jungen und M\u00e4dchen), eine Reihe von &#8222;Coming-of-age Filmen, zu der auch Chantal Akerman und Catherine Breillat einen Beitrag geleistet haben.<br \/>\n1996 dreht sie den Film &#8222;Nentte et Boni&#8220;, der bei den Filmfestspielen in Locarno den ersten Preis erhielt. Der 19j\u00e4hrige Boni arbeitet f\u00fcr einen Pizzaservice und verzehrt sich in seinen Tr\u00e4umen nach der sch\u00f6nen Frau des B\u00e4ckers. Eines Tages steht seine 15j\u00e4hrige Schwester N\u00e9nette vor der T\u00fcr. Sie ist schwanger und aus dem Internat abgehauen. Auch hier zeigt sich der f\u00fcr Claire Denis charakteristische filmische Ansatz. Die Charaktere bleiben unscharf, der Erz\u00e4hlstil fragmentarisch. Das emotionale Band zwischen den Personen wird \u00fcber Nahaufnahmen, intensive K\u00f6rperinszenierungen und einen gro\u00dfartigen Soundtrack hergestellt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1999 entsteht &#8222;Beau Travail&#8220; \/ &#8222;Der Fremdenlegion\u00e4r&#8220;, basierend auf der Erz\u00e4hlung &#8222;Billy Budd&#8220; von Herman Melville. Eine Gruppe von Fremdenlegion\u00e4ren, vergessen und verlassen irgendwo am Golf von Dschibuti. Die Handlung und die Dialoge treten in den Hintergrund zugunsten einer &#8222;Choreographie der K\u00f6rper&#8220; (Annett Busch), die eine eigenst\u00e4ndige Geschichte erz\u00e4hlen.<br \/>\n&#8222;Ich mache Filme, in ihren K\u00f6rpern gefangen sind. Bei Rivette gehorcht der K\u00f6rper dem Denken, ich dagegen bin der Meinung, dass das Denken, der geistige Zustand dem K\u00f6rper gehorcht.&#8220; (Claire Denis)<\/p>\n<p>Mit ihrem letzten Film &#8222;Trouble Every Day&#8220; (2001) greift Claire Denis das Genre des Horrorfilms auf. Der Film, der au\u00dfer Konkurrenz auf den Filmfestspielen in Cannes gezeigt wurde, hat noch keinen deutschen Verleih. Ihr n\u00e4chstes Projekt ist ein zweiteiliger Fernsehfilm f\u00fcr Arte mit dem Ttitel &#8222;L&#8217;Intrus&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Claire Denis arbeitet eng mit dem Drehbuchautor Jean-Pol Fargeau und der Kamerafrau Agnes Godard zusammen. Die Darsteller Gr\u00e9goire Colin, Vincent Gallo. Alex Descas und Alice Houiri geh\u00f6ren ebenfalls der &#8222;Familie&#8220; an. Ernsthaft und ohne Larmoyanz erfassen ihre Filme die emotionalen und sozialen Effekte von Rassismus und Kolonialismus. Dabei vermeidet Claire Denis ein simples Konzept des &#8222;Anderen&#8220; als das Gegenteil herrschender kultureller Normen.
