Februar 1962 in Aalen, studierte von 1982 bis 1984 Schauspielerei an der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. Im direkten Anschluss gab sie ihr Deb\u00fct als Filmschauspielerin mit einer Hauptrolle in Christian Ziewers Historienfilm &#8222;Der Tod des wei\u00dfen Pferdes&#8220; (1985). Von diesem Auftritt abgesehen konzentrierte Schanelec sich jedoch auf die B\u00fchnenarbeit: Bis 1991 war sie als Schauspielerin am Thalia Theater Hamburg, dem Schauspielhaus K\u00f6ln, der Berliner Schaub\u00fchne und dem Schauspielhaus Bochum zu sehen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Mehr<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1990 nahm sie ein Regiestudium an der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb) auf, das sie f\u00fcnf Jahre sp\u00e4ter abschloss. Ihr Abschlussfilm &#8222;Das Gl\u00fcck meiner Schwester&#8220;, in dem sie selbst eine Hauptrolle spielt, wurde 1996 mit dem Preis der deutschen Filmkritik als &#8222;Bester Film&#8220; ausgezeichnet. Schanelecs zweiter Film &#8222;Pl\u00e4tze in St\u00e4dten&#8220; feierte 1998 bei den Filmfestspielen von Cannes in der Sektion &#8222;Un Certain Regard&#8220; Premiere. Im Jahr darauf erhielt sie den Kunstpreis Berlin (F\u00f6rderungspreis Film- und Medienkunst). Mit ihren folgenden Filmen &#8222;Mein langsames Leben&#8220; (2001), &#8222;Marseille&#8220; (2004; Preis der Filmkritik f\u00fcr das Beste Drehbuch) und &#8222;Nachmittag&#8220; (2005), die sich durch ihre betont ruhige und n\u00fcchterne Inszenierung sowie einen unverstellten Naturalismus auszeichneten, avancierte Schanelec zu einer der ersten Protagonistinnen der sogenannten &#8222;Berliner Schule&#8220; \u2013 eine Stilrichtung, der unter anderem auch die Filmemacher Thomas Arslan, Christoph Hochh\u00e4usler, Benjamin Heisenberg und Maren Ade zugerechnet werden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2010 stellte Angela Schanelec, die bei s\u00e4mtlichen ihrer Filme auch f\u00fcr das Drehbuch verantwortlich zeichnet, im Forum der Berlinale ihren sechsten abendf\u00fcllenden Spielfilm vor: &#8222;Orly&#8220; erz\u00e4hlt von einer Reihe sehr unterschiedlicher Menschen, deren Lebenswege sich am Pariser Flughafen Orly kreuzen.<\/p>\n<p
