Mimmi lebt mit ihrer Mutter in einer Mietwohnung am Stadtrand. Für die beiden ist es das letzte gemeinsame Jahr, Mimmi steht kurz vor dem Abitur und wird die Wohnung bald verlassen. Ihre Mutter ist noch jung und wünscht sich manchmal, daß Mimmi sie nicht mehr braucht oder daß sie sie mehr braucht als früher. Aber Mimmi redet nicht viel, und oft weiß man nicht genau, was sie denkt. Sie trifft ihre Freundin, ihren Freund, sie hat andere, eher flüchtige Männerbekanntschaften, und sie ist viel allein, vielleicht nur war-tend, daß die Zeit vergeht oder auf ein anderes Leben.
Auf einer Klassenfahrt nach Paris lernt sie einen jungen Mann kennen und schläft mit ihm. Zurück in Berlin stellt sie fest, daß sie schwanger ist. Erneut macht sie sich auf den Weg nach Paris und verbringt dort zwei Tage auf der Suche nach dem Vater ihres Kindes. Sie hat kein Geld, und sie weiß nicht, wo sie schlafen soll. Sie träumt mit offenen Augen, während sie immer müder wird.



Mimmi lives with her mother in an apart-ment on the edge of town. They won't be living together for much longer because Mimmi is about to take her final exams at school and will soon move out. Mimmi's mother is still young and sometimes wish-es Mimmi didn't need her so much and yet, at other times, that she needed her more, like before. But Mimmi herself doesn't say very much and it's often hard to tell what thoughts preoccupy her. She sees her girlfriend, goes out with her boyfriend; she also has the odd flash-in-the-pan relationship with other men. She is often alone - perhaps just waiting for the time to pass, or for a new life to begin. On a school trip to Paris she meets and sleeps with a young man. When she gets back to Berlin she discovers that she is pregnant. She heads for Paris again where she spends two days trying to find the father of her child. She has no money and doesn't even know where she can sleep. She begins to daydream - and gets more and more tired.



Mimmi habite avec sa mère dans un immeuble de la banlieue. C'est sans doute la dernière année qu'elles vivent encore sous le même toit. Mimmi va bientôt passer son bac et aller s'installer ailleurs. Sa mère est encore jeune et elle souhaite parfois que Mimmi n'ait plus du tout besoin d'elle ou au contraire, qu'elle ait encore vraiment besoin d'elle, comme autrefois. Mais Mimmi ne dit pas grand-chose et on ne sait pas exactement ce qu'elle pense. Elle rencontre sa copine, son petit ami, elle a aussi d'autres copains, des liaisons plutôt éphémères, et puis elle est souvent seule, peut-être simplement dans l'attente que le temps passe ou dans l'espoir de changer de vie.
Au cours d'un voyage à Paris avec sa classe, Mimmi fait la connaissance d'un jeune homme et ils couchent ensemble. De retour à Berlin, elle se rend compte qu'elle est tombée enceinte. Elle repart pour Paris et pendant deux journées entières, elle cherche à retrouver le père de son enfant. Elle n'a pas d'argent et elle ne sait pas où passer la nuit. Elle rêve les yeux grands ouverts tandis que la fatigue l'envahit peu à peu.
